Vitamin E: A Must Have Daily Supplement

#VitaminE #Evion

Always in my Purse :)
I was introduced to Vitamin E when I was barely a teenager. Unlike many others, I was introduced to this supplement due much graver reason.
I was undergoing massive hormonal changes and had developed serious pains around my breasts area. After much-much hesitation, I was taken to a doctor (rather forcefully). She did her checks and after many blabbery words (I didn't understand any) she prescribed Vitamin E and handed my mother the green stripped medicine. My first thought was 'why is she giving me Pudin hara', LOL!. Only once my mother showed me the medicine I realized it was the magical pill that not just takes away your weird pains but also nourishes your skin and adds shine to your hair.

Vitamin E was also prescribed to me for better conception. I don't know how it helps but I was more than happy to consume it daily. If nothing else, it added luster to my hair...

Talking a bit about Vitamin E, it is extremely useful. Ideally one should consume it naturally - rich source of vitamin E are almonds, sweet potato, spinach, avocado etc. But unfortunately these days neither we lean towards healthy foods nor we get pure enough vegetable and fruits to get best of vitamins. Hence, in my opinion, it is best to lean on vitamins.

Apart from Vitamin E, (owing to my weak health) I also take other daily supplements of multi-vitamins, calcium etc. I always plan and space out the medicines so that none react with other or lose its potency. The ideal time to consume Vitamin E is empty stomach. Sadly I found it only last year -after consuming hundreds of my precious green pills.

To me Vitamin E is a kind of raam-baand ilaaz for many issues. And I am a regular customer of Evion Vitamin E pills and I don't think I can ever survive without it. Do you want to give Evion Supplements a try? I am sure it would help you and you won't be disappointed. You can know more at: http://www.evion.co.in/

New Year's Resolutions

Top post on IndiBlogger, the biggest community of Indian Bloggers#NewYearResolutions

It's time to make some resolutions... Add these 5 for a better 2018.
  1. Instead of wishing ‘Good morning’ to the entire world on WhatsApp, Facebook etc. Start your day by wishing ‘Good morning’ to the person next to you with a heartfelt smile
  2. Instead of picking up phone or laptop all the time to pass your time, look up to your family members and talk. Talking to them will bring you closer, WhatsApp, Facebook won’t!
  3. Hug your partner instead of your phone or laptop at night. Hugging phone/laptop will not blossom anything, hugging your partner will blossom your relationship
  4. While spending time with your kids, keep your phone and laptop aside. They will remember the attention you give them, your phone or laptop wont
  5. Spending time with family bring true happiness and solve problems. ‘Likes’, ‘Compliments’ etc. from social media don’t.

Take a Pledge today to make 2018 more loving and caring…

All the Best!

Happy New Year.

Book: Principles of Success - Take Charge of Your Life

#BookReviews

Title:  Principles of Success
Author: Roopleen
Publisher: Macmillan Publisher
Pages: 160
Price: Rs. 199
My Rating: 3.5/5

Blurb:
Principles of Success Made Easy - 14 easy steps to climb the ladder of success is the culmination of my onerous efforts of writing something simple yet relevant. It is a pragmatic account of the fundamental principles of achieving success by self-help and is the distilled essence of my years of research and understanding of the dynamics of success. This practical manual serves as a step-by-step guide to climb the ladder of success. It gives both an in-depth view and a time-tested approach to succeed and chronicles 14 golden principles of achieving success. The principles are wide-ranging and apply to success in any sphere of life. My own life has been transformed by the principles enshrined in this book. Therefore, I recommend this book to anyone who wants to be successful in life and seeks happiness. Principles of Success Made Easy - 14 easy steps to climb the ladder of success would prove to be not only a guidebook for success but also a reservoir and storehouse of strength and motivation. I am sure all my readers would be able to relate to this book, which has been carefully tailored just for them. They would be tempted to read this self-help manual over and over again in order to assimilate its contents and incorporate the principles in their lives. After all, as is said, 'a good book becomes a part of you'.

Review:
A step by step guide to take charge of your own life.
The book is divided in 14 chapters and Roopleen has done a wonderful job in describing each and every aspect of each one in detail. They are beautifully written and they are even divided in sub-sections which makes them more comprehensible.

14 steps mentioned in the book are:

  1. Draft the Blueprint of Your Life
  2. Believe in Yourself
  3. Build Yourself Up
  4. Let Confidence Be Your Hallmark
  5. Never Give Up
  6. Visualizations and Positive Affirmations
  7. The Tripod of Success- Hard Work, Perseverance and Discipline
  8. Identify Your Achilles’ Heel
  9. Skills you Need to Master
  10. Get Tough With Stress
  11. Organize Yourself- Declutter Your Life
  12. Acknowledge and Celebrate Your Success
  13. Be a Winner
  14. The X-Factor
What I really liked about the book is the flow and the quotes used. Each quote is valid and true in real life. They motivate you to do something good in life.

Example -
"Its not who you are holds you back; Its who you think you are not" - Anonymous
"The tragedy of life doesn't lie in not reaching your goals; The tragedy lies in having no goal to reach" - Benjamin Mays

The book also has important tips in the end of each chapter, which helps reader take important notes.

I really like the cover, it is apt and communicates the motive of the book.

What, as per me, is lacking is examples and narration. For someone who is well experienced in their field and work, the book will act as a guide. However for younger generation, who need more guidance and support, some relevant examples would have been helpful.

My overall rating to the book is 3.5/5

It is a decent read. Do give it a try.

Getting Rid of 'LaunchPage.Org' Virus

#HowTo  #SelfHelp
Indian Bloggers
Last week I started noticing that my chrome was bouncing me to various search engines. It was very irritating.

I looked everywhere, I thought maybe I have installed these weird extensions accidentally but it was whole other problem. Apparently a virus called 'launchpage.org' had crept in my laptop and was infecting my browsers. I have a very strong anti-virus in my laptop and believe me this is the first time any virus had broken its firewall. I was worried.

I looked up for solution but every time I was ending up with another risk.
Some wanted me to touch my operating system's files (which is very risky) and some wanted me to install some new softwares, which was another risk. So I did couple of things. Followed multiple steps, used some common sense and got rid of the stupid virus.

Below are the simple steps I followed.

It really helped me and I hope it helps you too.
And please do share your views on same.

Zika Virus: A potential threat to all mother's to be

#AllAboutHealth #ZikaVirus

I received a very informative article today about Zika virus and the stats worried me a little. It said that out of 544 Americans affected by Zika, 300 are pregnant women. Well, the numbers are very small considering population size but the % of pregnant women is really high.

The first thing that we need to know is that so far India is unaffected from this virus. The hot zones are Latin America, Pacific Islands and Africa. The second thing to know is that it spreads through mosquito bites and sexual transmission. Hence, if male partner has contracted it, it is highly likely that he may pass it on to females. And lastly, there are no vaccines or treatment available so far but Zika virus is not deadly. As per reports it goes away like in 2-3 weeks with simple symptomatic treatments. According to WHO, the list of symptoms for this are:

  • Fever and Rash
  • Muscle and Joint Pain
  • Headache
  • Pain behind the Eyes
  • Conjunctivitis (itchy, red eyes)
The worst part of this virus is that in 80% cases no symptoms occur hence for most people there is no way to know if they have it.

Now the question that arises is that, if it is not deadly then why to worry?

Well to answer here, it is not deadly to you or your family but it is very dangerous for unborn children. Many organizations have taken out warnings saying that all pregnant women or likely to conceive women should avoid travel to infected zones. If the husband has traveled to these zones recently then also doctor should be consulted as it can be transmitted easily.
Unfortunately if mother-to-be contracts this virus then she can pass it to the unborn child. In certain cases fetus affected by Zika does not have any impact but there is always a chance that baby's head and brain may get impacted. Zika can cause microcephaly to the baby, which may cause mental retardation, as well as delays in speech, movement, and growth.
Given the severity of it to unborn children it is advised to take necessary precautions to save and protect future generation.

I know it is a good to know information but given I fall under the segment of 'mother to be' I felt it is important to share it further.

Hope you stay well and your kids do too.

Love and Cheers

Manufacture More Time In One Day @ Work

#Time  #Impact

PC: julettemillien.com
"Time is really the only capital that any human being has, and the only thing he can’t afford to lose." – Thomas Edison

Sitting around & wasting time results in nothing but failure. And most people these days wish for more than 24hrs a day? Or they feel they could have done extra or more if they had additional time. But it doesn't work that way, time is one constant that is fixed for everyone and it should always be used optimally.

If asked, how will you differentiate between people who are successful from people who usually hold this wishful thinking? The answer is very simple, successful people strategize; they utilize their time perfectly which makes them more efficient and successful. The struggle of inefficiency and unavailability of time is very common these days.  However, overcoming them is not as hard as climbing Mount Everest. Below are some words of the wise, and following them will have a good impact on your professional life.
PC: clipartbest.com

1. Make a to-do list every day & avoid multitasking
“One of the secrets of getting more done is to make a to-do list every day, keep it visible, and use it as a guide to action as you go through the day.” ~ Jean De La Fontaine

It is scientifically proven that people with to-do list are more effective and efficient than those who don’t have one. The reason is very simple; to-do list helps you prioritize and keeps you focused. A person’s mind can work only in certain capacity and juggling between tasks reduces efficiency. With a to-do list in hand, you won’t jump from one topic to another within seconds; instead you finish one, mark it off the list and move to the next. Also, ticking off things from the to-do list provides a great sense of accomplishment and achievement

2. Prioritize
PC: dreamstime.com
“You need to prioritize. If you can't get to everything or do everything, that's okay.” ~ Julie Chen

Learning to prioritize is crucial; juggling between multiple tasks results in completion of none. There will always be important and urgent things in your list but know that, all urgent things are not important. Starting your day with prioritization of to-do list is equivalent to winning half the battle.
Also, in everyday working you will face circumstances when more than one task is urgent and important. In such cases don’t spread yourself too thin, instead take the tough call and prioritize, and if need be, loop your seniors for support and assistance

3. Start with the most complicated task first
“Happiness does not come from doing easy work but from the afterglow of satisfaction that comes after the achievement of a difficult task that demanded our best.” ~ Theodore Isaac Rubin

There are people with opinion that starting off with easy tasks keeps you motivated throughout the day. Though it is true in some cases, it is not recommended. Anyone who desires to accomplish more in the designated 24 hours have a golden rule: Always start with the most complicated tasks in the morning. There are many good reasons to do that, just to state a few: you are fresh, calm and active in the mornings in comparison to the afternoons. Afternoons are usually surrounded with lethargy, stress and anxiousness to go home. Also it should be noted that working on complicated tasks with calm mind results in quick and better solutions. And once such tasks are ticked-off the remaining day opens up for other options.

4. Learn to say ‘No’
“Half of the troubles of this life can be traced to saying yes too quickly and not saying no soon enough.” ~Josh Billings

You will always be required to do additional tasks, but whether you have band-width to accept them, depends on you. The art of being successful starts with the art of saying ‘No’.  Saying ‘yes’ is easy and it keeps everyone happy; everyone except you. Work that falls beyond a person’s capacity is always error-prone, stressful and less efficient. Also, it doesn’t let you honour the commitment to your existing tasks as well. Hence, learn to say no, and witness the fruitful outputs.

5. Delegate
PC: clipartpanda.com
“Focus On Your Strengths, Delegate Your Weaknesses” ~ Lorraine Pirihi

While you may feel you need to do everything yourself, it is actually not the case. Organisations don’t run based on individual performances; instead they are successful because of team work. Every successful person knows that he/she cannot master everything and because they cannot master it, they hire masters for it.
Whenever something comes up that either doesn’t fall in your knowledge capacity or in your schedule, delegate it. Where accepting tasks with either no knowledge or bandwidth affects you negatively, delegation works in opposite way. It allows you to focus on task at hand and helps you be more effective in one day…

PC: ourtowntustin.com
6. Stick to your schedule especially during meetings
“Meetings get a bad rap, and deservedly so - most are disorganized and distracted. But they can be a critical tool for getting your team on the same page. ~ Justin Rosenstein”

If you have a schedule, then stick to it. Where meetings are very crucial for the business, they are also considered a waste of time. Following the schedule is very crucial because one diversion can drag your meetings forever. Also, off-topic discussions don’t serve the purpose of the whole exercise. Hence, to be effective, have a schedule for the meeting and always stick to it

The above points are the holy-grail of being efficient and successful. They don’t just help you in manufacture more time at work but they also help strike appropriate balance between your personal and professional life.
Reading above may seem easy at first but their application (especially saying ‘no’) gets real challenging in everyday scenario. However always remember Rome was not built in one day and every success requires the first step in the right direction. Following these rules religiously and with due-diligence is your first step towards that thousand mile journey that will only end in your success and happiness

Till Then

BNLF Indiblogger Meet - A Life Altering Session

#BNLF  #IndiBlogger

Yesterday I had the privilege of going to BNLF. Given I am very new to blogging world, I was
sceptical of going on a Saturday morning (you know it's a day to sleep in after 5 days of hardship) but now I am very happy that I didn't let laziness overcome me
By the time I came back home, I felt like I had the happiest and most useful day of my existence. And I have Indiblogger and all new friends I made there to thank.

The day was full of learnings, excitement and great speeches from successful people (like Bruce Dikinson, Christoph Trappe, Preeti Shenoy, Jeff Bullas etc.).

Below is the summary of what I have learnt in one day... And I do hope to apply these in my life going forward -

  • To be successful blogger one should blog at least once a week - It gives consistency to the fans and also it allows you in Google SEO ~Thanks to almost all speakers yesterday for this tip
  • Blogging and writing is for my own passion and satisfaction. It is not to show someone (relatives and other people) what I can or cannot do. ~ Purba Ray
  • Don't be afraid to write what you want. Be original and write what you want to write, instead of what others want you to write. ~ Arnab Ray
  • A good blog post should be at least 500-600 words long. However blog post of 1200 words is shared most. ~ Christoph Trappe
  • A successful post follows 60 - 30 - 10 rule i.e. 60% Talking - 30% Responding/Resharing -10% Links ~ Christoph Trappe
  • "Authentic stories are lived and then told!" - Also, they need to be vulnerable, candid and have some kind of conflict ~ Christoph Trappe
  • Headlines are very important. Write multiple and choose best ~ Christoph Trappe
  • Our voice as bloggers make a difference. Write to create impact ~ Anshul Tiwari
  • Being miserable doesn't help. If you are persistent and passionate about what you want, you can achieve it. ~ Kanan Gill

  • "Done is better than Perfect" - Meaning one should start writing and improve instead of wanting to write a perfect piece and never write. You discover yourself through the journey ~ Jeff Bullas
  • "Run when you can, Walk if you have to, Crawl if you must; Just never give up - Dean Karnazes" - Very clear and apt. ~ Jeff Bullas
  • Writing is like exercising. If you want to build muscle you don't just work out for one day and have great expectations out of it. To have good writing muscle in your brain, one should write everyday (be it anything - blog post or a story or even an email to friend) ~ Preeti Shenoy

  • Four things to be successful ~ Preeti Shenoy
    • Do something you have never done before
    • Don't let rejections affect you
    • Develop your skill sets
    • Push your limits
  • Don't look for customers, they leave you. Instead look for fans, they always stay with you ~ Bruce Dickinson
  • 0 + 0 = 1... be a creative mosquito and make it happen ~ Bruce Dickinson

I hope this post helps people who were there with me and to people who couldn't attend

Unfortunately I missed today's session and if someone could share highlights, I would be greatful.

Till then

LAUGHTER indeed is the best medicine... - A Success Story

#Miscellaneous

"I am very independent & confident person and many times come across too strong. My manager is one of those who is exceptionally good at work but weak in interpersonal skills.
All the time when I was working with her she ignored me because we couldn't interact properly. Many people said I intimidate her, but that was the last thing I wanted to do, I loved my job and day-by-day I was feeling my days here are over...
However when I read section on 'Staying calm' in Manage your Manager book I realized the problem and with the help of 'Smile & Laughter' I was able to calm myself and eventually the relationship between me and my manager improved. Later she once did ask me, what changed me, and all I thought was 'I learnt how to manage my Manager' Thanks for your support" ~~~ from a reader of Manage your Manager book

I got the biggest smile on my face after reading the above message. It always gives me immense pleasure to see how one book can help people in their respective worlds.

My friends, don't you think that many times if we had our head in place the situation would have turned out completely different? Or if you hadn't said something, you might have saved a relation? I am sure the answer is 'yes', I too have made a lot of mistakes like this and similarly have you. But I think its high time that we  are always letting anger and other issues come in way of our happiness. I believe if we take control of our feelings and emotions. If we can think before acting or speaking, nothing will go wrong. And the best way to control your emotions is by staying calm and SMILE

The concept of 'smile and laughter' doesn't just work in professional life but also in every aspect of our lives. So why don't we take charge and SMILE all our worries away.

I am attaching the snapshot of the book on Laughter which the reader shared with me.

And also, my special thanks for the reader for sharing his valuable experience and allowing me to share it with the world...

Happy Managing

How to resolve "Err_Name_Not_Resolved" error in your laptop

#Howto

Did you get a new laptop/PC and updated windows to 8.1 version? Or updated it on an old one?
If you have done so... then you must be getting very frustrated with this error everytime you try to open a website...

Of course,  google.com can't be down and in no way will they move this site, so what is the issue? It's simple, the problem is with your computer and you need to fix it... But how? well the problem is big, without internet our laptops and part of our lives (these days) is useless... but don't worry the solution is very simple. I didn't know what to do, but thankfully my hubby did. Well everyone can't be as lucky so I am posting it on my blog for quick reference.

There are plainly 2 steps:
    • Step 1: Open command prompt and 'Run as administrator'. If you don't know how to open it, type it in search box in 'start' icon. When you see it in search, right click and select 'Run as administrator', very simple... If you are using a personal laptop then you will be allowed to do so, if you are using a company laptop then eh! you have go through your IT personnel. On right is the picture of how it looks like for very quick reference

    • Step 2: Once you are in command prompt, type following: ipconfig/flushdns and hit enter. There is a space after ipconfig... You should get following message on your screen.  If you made any typing errors then it will not run and give you some error.

    • Step 3: Once done restart your PC/laptop for happy internet ever :)
If problem still persists, (which was not the case with my system), then type following: netsh winsock reset and after hitting enter, restart...

    I hope this helps...

    How to be SUCCESSFUL...

We all want to be successful in our lives. The only problem in achieving that is, we don't know where to start or what to do.

In most people's cases they feel what they are doing is just enough and they hope that someday they will be successful. But is it really enough?

I once read an intelligent article (don't remember the source now) and it conveyed a beautiful message to me i.e. 'Being successful today doesn't mean that you are a success tomorrow. Striving for success is everyday process and we should aim to achieve it every time. Just dreaming about it or hoping will never pan out'
And if we think deeply about it, it's kind of true. If I deliver an awesome work today,  I will be praised now, and with every success the expectation bar rises, hence NOW i have to work harder to be successful tomorrow as well.

Over period of time I have learnt few simple things that encourage success in our lives, be it personal or professional. They are simple, yet most difficult to follow because in the niche of time, we always forget the process and non-urgent things (which are very important but don't seem like at the moment). Lets discuss them...

Stop going off-track and maintain a to-do list: You should have a system that makes you realize that you are not doing as per expectation. Many times we go off-track and forget what we were suppose to do in 1st place. Make sure you have a planner or check-ins that remind you on your goals so that you can focus again. It might seem like homework but we all need something or someone to remind us of our priorities

Stop forgetting and fearing your goals: We all so much comfortable in our daily chores that we completely forget what our goals actually are... Many times we see goals as those big rocky mountains that look almost impossible to climb. Stop seeing them like that, its the fear of failing that results in actual failure. Think of them as an opportunity and try. Even if you fail you can at-least say, 'well, I tried' and then try again

Stop being harsh with yourself: Something I am trying to learn desperately. Nobody is perfect and everybody makes a mistake. If you made a mistake then its not the end of the world, you can try again and make it better. If you are harsh on yourself then instead of finding a solution all you are looking for is the problem. Hence if you make a mistake don't be harsh, just forgive yourself but don't forget the lesson you learnt from it.

Stop agreeing to everything and learn to say NO: Very important point. If you say 'yes' to everything then you are setting yourself on the path of failure. Well you know what they say, 'do 100 good deeds no one will remember you, do 1 wrong, and everyone will remember only that'. So don't set yourself on path of failure, saying 'no' tastefully is an art, master it with practice

Stop living in 'only-today', rather focus on tomorrow: What you do today results in tomorrow hence it is very important to plan. Consider life as a car, now its you who decides if you are driving it or someone else is. Proper planning of future, knowing what to do when & having 5 year, 10 year plan in place puts you in driver seat. And once you take control, sky is the limit. I personally have had plans for each year ever since I joined corporate and by following and planning it each day I can simply say I have achieved most milestones. There are few that I failed due to circumstantial reasons but no complains there, they now sit in my coming years agenda :)

Reading above might seem very less or too much to you, but in both scenarios I would say, 'its hardest to take the 1st step, but once that is done rest whole journey becomes easy'.

Try these as 1st step and if done right, success will come running crazy towards you

    Till then

    Take Care
