Did you get a new laptop/PC and updated windows to 8.1 version? Or updated it on an old one?
If you have done so... then you must be getting very frustrated with this error everytime you try to open a website...
Of course, google.com can't be down and in no way will they move this site, so what is the issue? It's simple, the problem is with your computer and you need to fix it... But how? well the problem is big, without internet our laptops and part of our lives (these days) is useless... but don't worry the solution is very simple. I didn't know what to do, but thankfully my hubby did. Well everyone can't be as lucky so I am posting it on my blog for quick reference.
There are plainly 2 steps:
- Step 1: Open command prompt and 'Run as administrator'. If you don't know how to open it, type it in search box in 'start' icon. When you see it in search, right click and select 'Run as administrator', very simple... If you are using a personal laptop then you will be allowed to do so, if you are using a company laptop then eh! you have go through your IT personnel. On right is the picture of how it looks like for very quick reference
- Step 2: Once you are in command prompt, type following: ipconfig/flushdns and hit enter. There is a space after ipconfig... You should get following message on your screen. If you made any typing errors then it will not run and give you some error.
- Step 3: Once done restart your PC/laptop for happy internet ever :)
If problem still persists, (which was not the case with my system), then type following: netsh winsock reset and after hitting enter, restart...
I hope this helps...
Till then
Take Care
